CourseSmart was a digital textbook and course material provider that offered electronic versions of college textbooks at 40–60% below the cost of new print editions. The platform allowed students to access textbooks on computers and mobile devices, with features like highlighting, note-taking, and search built into the reading interface.

CourseSmart partnered with major educational publishers to provide authorized digital editions of required course materials. Students appreciated the immediate access (no waiting for shipping), the lower price, and the ability to access materials on multiple devices simultaneously.

CourseSmart merged with Ingram's VitalSource Technologies, and the CourseSmart brand was integrated into VitalSource's broader digital textbook platform. Similar digital textbook access is now available through VitalSource, Chegg eTextbooks, Amazon Kindle Textbook Rental, and publisher-direct digital access.
